Giatec Scientific Inc. is an Ottawa-based startup known for its IoT platform designed to monitor concrete quality at construction sites. The solution includes Bluetooth sensors fully embedded into the concrete, which broadcast temperature and strength data to end-users' mobile phones. The solution also includes a SmartHub that collects data automatically, eliminating the need for a technician to go to the job site.
In addition, their desktop application, Giatec 360, allows users to manage multiple projects, analyze data across many sensors, and draw insights on how to either improve mix design or control ambient conditions after the pour. The system is also backed by AI that would take thousands of data points to learn to generate mix optimizations scenarios that users could review and apply to their product line.
My job at Giatec was to oversee the entire customer experience, not just the UX of a single app. From the marketing website and the very first point of contact with the sales team to the deployment of the solution on the job site and the implementation of insights, I focused on optimizing every aspect of user engagement.
Through customer interviews, feedback collection, and collaboration between various teams I have designed countless new features and produced reports with dozens of recommendations to enhance the product.
